PURPOSE/AIM 1.To review the imaging findings in a cohort of patients with injuries to the abdomen and pelvis at delayed CT. 2.To gain an awareness of the incidence of injuries , and learn their imaging appearence. 3. To learn optimal technique to detect injuries that otherwise cannot be detected with initial CT scans. CONTENT ORGANIZATION Five-minute delayed should be acquired in patients with: -Solid organ injury -Bowel or mesenteric injury -Free fluid only -Active contrast material extravasation only -Pelvic fractures. -Delayed CT was useful in 16 patients: 9/42 (21%) patients with solid organ injury, 2/14 (14%) with bowel or mesentery injury, 3/24 (12%) with pelvic fractures, and 2/16 (13%) with free fluid only. SUMMARY The major teaching points of this exhibit are: 1. To recognize the most common findings at 5-minute delayed CT such as splenic pseudoaneurysms and/or active bleeding, rupture to the kidneys and urinary system, bowel and/or mesenteric active bleeding. 2.Optimizing whole-body CT trauma protocol may increse diagnostic accuracy. 3. It is necessary to be familiar with CT findings at 5-minute delayed CT in order to avoid a false-negative diagnosis of traumatic injuries.
