In the last fifty years in Italy the number of farmers and related labour has decreased and depopulation has concerned both marginal areas and those more easily mechanizable. The average size of Italian farms is usually small and their number is fairly stable and rather high. The lecture showed the conditions and the perspectives of traditional farm buildings in differents sides of the Italian countryside.
