Abstract
In his pioneering book entitled "On Growth and Form", D''Arcy Thompson claimed that "THERE IS AN IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE FORM OR SHAPE OF A BIOLOGICAL STRUCTURE AND HIS FUNCTION". This leads to the important idea that in Biomedicine the analysis of the morphology of patterns may lead to the diagnosis of malfunctioning of an organ or organism. Actually many processes of interest are, in general, stochastic both in time and space, so that a statistical analysis of stochastic geometries is required. The scope of this presentation is then to introduce relevant nomenclature and mathematical methods for the analysis of geometries related to patterns of biomedical interest, thus providing a guided tour in a selected bibliography.Pubblicazioni consigliate
