Some results coming from a field research (11 public hospitals in Lombardia, North-Italy’s country, were investigated) are shown. Focus is placed on real hospital top management styles and behaviours, vs professionals and vs regional management. In spite of official regional rules, many different behaviours were found with big differences among them. Four main types were detected; each shows significant differences vs the present official thought about. All models are investigated; prerequirements, strong and weak points are shown. Some considerations on the difficulties to get a real change in order to improve hospital management, are also provided.
