The creation and representation of migrant characters presents many problems for contemporary theatre, not least several of a linguistic and cultural kind. I will be investigating how characters in the play "Neither Here Nor There" express themselves. This varies according to the generation of immigrants to which they belong, and other factors of a social and educational kind. I shall be discussing aspects of performance together with the theatre company, "Legal Aliens" who are producing the play.
