Thanks to the questioning about the representation of History and gender in the African novel, we will focus on the depiction of “tranches de vie” of men and women that the accidents of history have turned into actors or discrete witnesses of critical mutations of their continent. In particular, we will examine the cases of the ‘maquis’ woman engaged in the peasant uprising in 1963-1968 (Abo, une femme du Congo), the village woman ordered to stay out of public life because of superstitions (Mweya Tol Ande, Récit de la damnée), the immigrant student living in Europe on the sidelines of an unlawful society (Maguy Rashidi-Kabamba, La dette coloniale), the refugee who is fighting for the cause of the exiles (Amba Bongo, Un femme en exil), the family saga novel collected from 1964 to 2000, starting from the colonial age and ending after the end of a cruel dictatorship (Tu le leur diras): all these testimonies invite to a rereading of History in a feminine perspective.

Abstract
Thanks to the questioning about the representation of History and gender in the African novel, we will focus on the depiction of “tranches de vie” of men and women that the accidents of history have turned into actors or discrete witnesses of critical mutations of their continent. In particular, we will examine the cases of the ‘maquis’ woman engaged in the peasant uprising in 1963-1968 (Abo, une femme du Congo), the village woman ordered to stay out of public life because of superstitions (Mweya Tol Ande, Récit de la damnée), the immigrant student living in Europe on the sidelines of an unlawful society (Maguy Rashidi-Kabamba, La dette coloniale), the refugee who is fighting for the cause of the exiles (Amba Bongo, Un femme en exil), the family saga novel collected from 1964 to 2000, starting from the colonial age and ending after the end of a cruel dictatorship (Tu le leur diras): all these testimonies invite to a rereading of History in a feminine perspective.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
