This is the first numismatic biography of King Victor Emmanuel III, who put together the most important collection of Italian coins struck from c.500 to his days, and donated to the Italian people in 1946 before departing to Egypt. His activity as coin collector and scholar in this field has been reconstructed on the basis of many archival documents, his own drafts and letters, and his own collection now kept in Rome. The book is fully documented and offers a rich bibliography on the subject.
