This chapter offers an overview of the study and research activity of Letizia Gianformaggio, a philosopher of law considered the main exponent of the ‘formalist’ juridical-feminist current. While embracing a ‘formalist’ perspective, Gianformaggio at the same time addressed the complexity of the problems related to the principle of equality, producing a body of reflections that help to explain the trajectories of juridical feminism developed in Italy.
