The essay explores, from an aesthetic perspective, the notion of unity by tracing its development across philosophical traditions up to the advent of new technologies. The understanding of this idea gradually shifts from an objective property grounded in numerical relations, as in the Pythagorean school, to an experiential and ultimate- ly perceptual-bodily process, as described by Gestalt and phenomenological thought. Architecture, with its spatial and immersive nature, calls for kinesthetic engagement that generates experiential synthesis. Modern mediations such as photography and cinema expand the perception of architectural spaces by framing multiple perspec- tives. Beyond these media, virtual reality offers a quasi-lived experience, enabling users to inhabit even unrealized or lost works. Yet it also risks undermining specific aesthetic experiences of built space, particularly in the case of ruins, by reconstructing unity while obscuring the evocative power of the fragmentary and the unfinished.

Abstract
Yet it also risks undermining specific aesthetic experiences of built space, particularly in the case of ruins, by reconstructing unity while obscuring the evocative power of the fragmentary and the unfinished.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
