Enteric disorders are a major challenge in intensive broiler farming, negatively affecting animal welfare and productive and economic performance. Early detection is essential to implement timely and effective control strategies. This study evaluated a Precision Livestock Farming (PLF)-based technology using real-time VOC analysis for the early detection of enteric dysbiosis in broiler chickens. The system processed data hourly through a cloud-based platform and successfully detected metabolic alterations associated with enteric diseases several days before the appearance of clinical signs. Early alerts allowed veterinarians to promptly intervene through targeted management actions, such as drinking water acidification, helping to limit disease development. This innovative and sustainable PLF approach supports EU strategies aimed at reducing antimicrobial use in livestock while improving flock health and production efficiency.
