This paper explores the potential of physics and physics education, of addressing global societal and ethical challenges through the lens of peace-oriented education. Drawing on theoretical insights from the history and philosophy of science - as well as on educational interventions - the current paper examines how physics instruction can foster students’ engagement with issues such as the destructive use of science and technology, militarization, and the ethical dilemmas raised by quantum innovation. Embedding such topics within physics education promotes critical thinking, ethical awareness, and social responsibility. The paper concludes with the reflection on the implications for physics educators and the need for further research in this direction.

Abstract
This paper explores the potential of physics and physics education, of addressing global societal and ethical challenges through the lens of peace-oriented education. Drawing on theoretical insights from the history and philosophy of science - as well as on educational interventions - the current paper examines how physics instruction can foster students’ engagement with issues such as the destructive use of science and technology, militarization, and the ethical dilemmas raised by quantum innovation. Embedding such topics within physics education promotes critical thinking, ethical awareness, and social responsibility. The paper concludes with the reflection on the implications for physics educators and the need for further research in this direction.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
