This essay aims to analyze the use of tropes in legal discourse, proposing an inventory of the most recurrent rhetorical figures in normative language. The investigation confirms that Italian legislator also resorts to figurative language and, more generally, that legal language and common language, despite differences between them, are intrinsically intertwined and influence each other.

Il saggio si propone di analizzare l’uso dei tropi nel discorso giuridico, proponendo un inventario delle figure retoriche più ricorrenti nel linguaggio normativo. L’indagine conferma che anche il legislatore italiano ricorre al linguaggio figurato e, più in generale, che linguaggio giuridico e linguaggio comune, pur nella loro diversità, sono strettamente connessi e si influenzano reciprocamente.
