The discussion on nuclear energy occupies a central position in current energy policy debates and is also reflected linguistically, particularly in the use of competing discursive vocabularies. This paper presents a contrastive discourse analysis of the collocations associated with Atomenergie and Kernenergie in German and energia atomica and energia nucleare in Italian. The analysis is based on the web corpora German Web 2020 and Italian Web 2020, both accessible through Sketch Engine. Adopting a quantitative-qualitative approach, the study examines the collocational profiles from an intra- and interlinguistic perspective, providing insights into the German and Italian discourses on nuclear energy.

Abstract

Die Diskussion über Atom- bzw. Kernenergie nimmt in der aktuellen energiepolitischen Debatte eine zentrale Stellung ein und spiegelt sich auch auf sprachlicher Ebene wider, insbesondere in der Verwendung konkurrierender Diskursvokabulare. Der Beitrag präsentiert eine kontrastive diskurslinguistische Analyse der Kollokationen zu Atomenergie und Kernenergie im Deutschen sowie zu energia atomica und energia nucleare im Italienischen. Datengrundlage bilden die über Sketch Engine zugänglichen Webkorpora German Web 2020 und Italian Web 2020. Auf der Basis eines quantitativ-qualitativen Ansatzes werden die Kollokationsprofile intra- und interlingual untersucht, um Einblicke in den deutschen und italienischen Diskurs zum Thema Atom- / Kernenergie zu gewinnen.
