Produced by the National Theatre of Greece in 2022, Brikena Gishto’s walking performance Topography of Death or Lest We Forget charts a critical counter cartography of downtown Athens that identifies and resists the expansion of a contemporary microfascist necropolitics. Conceptualising the play’s creative methodology as pedestrian theatre, this article explores the aesthetic and political dimensions of its embodied and multisensory approach to urban historiography as well as its material contestation of public space in the face of fascist violence.
