Sector XII, located in the oriental portion of the cliff that hosts the proto-historic settlement of Sorgenti della Nova (Farnese, VT), was identified during the 2008 excavations season. This sector has not completely been excavated yet: this allowed the discovery of a new building carved in the rock. The structure is a big hut with built-in base, looking out to a terracing mostly destroyed by erosion and medieval structures, which cut the rock downwards. On the terracing a curved furrow has been found that can be interpreted as the foundation of an elliptical hut, and, on the same line of the furrow, a sunken area whose function still has to be clarified. The sector was expanded uphill, where a narrow corridor coming from the main location seemed to indicate the presence of another compartment placed against the rock on the back, following the housing model seen yet on Ve sector. Later on, in 2013, the expansion of the excavated area has allowed to discover on the terracing two smaller structures: to the west a small circular shaped service compartment has been identified, not very deep and connected with a big sewer located more downhill. To the east the area is still being researched: another service structure composed by a subquadrangular compartment and a small connecting corridor has been found. Cut marks detected on both of the structures suggest that they are coeval to the hut.
