Gods and Goddesses for Children. Russian Children’s Books about Mythology (1764–1820). The paper examines the first Russian children’s books devoted to ancient mythology ‒ both original and translated ‒ aiming to identify different approaches within the utilitarian use of mythology, various didactic methodologies, and the ways in which “pagan” and Christian, ancient and Slavic discourses are combined. The study also identifies, revises, or more precisely defines the sources of several translated texts, in some cases for the first time.

Dei e dee per bambini. Libri russi per bambini sulla mitologia (1764-1820). Il saggio esamina i primi libri russi per bambini dedicati alla mitologia antica, sia originali che tradotti, con l'obiettivo di individuare diversi approcci nell'ambito dell'uso utilitaristico della mitologia, varie metodologie didattiche e le modalità in cui interpretazioni "pagane" e cristiane, classiche e slave si combinavano. Lo studio individua, rivede o definisce con maggiore precisione le fonti di diversi testi tradotti, in alcuni casi per la prima volta.
