The article presents the discovery of an unpublished correspondence between Infanta Margherita of Savoy, Duchess of Mantua and Montferrat, and Cardinal Infante Don Ferdinand of Habsburg in the two-year period 1633-34, through which to explore the role of the Dowager Princess and her concrete aspirations for the regency.
