This paper presents the discovery of a large necropolis at Aswan West (6th century BCE–2nd/3rd century CE), excavated by the Egyptian-Italian mission. The site, with around 500 tombs, reveals a highly structured funerary landscape reflecting social stratification between elite and non-elite burials. Archaeological and epigraphic evidence highlights intense use in the Hellenistic and Roman periods. An interdisciplinary approach provides new insights into population, health, and cultural interactions in this frontier region of ancient Egypt.

Abstract
This paper presents the discovery of a large necropolis at Aswan West (6th century BCE–2nd/3rd century CE), excavated by the Egyptian-Italian mission. The site, with around 500 tombs, reveals a highly structured funerary landscape reflecting social stratification between elite and non-elite burials. Archaeological and epigraphic evidence highlights intense use in the Hellenistic and Roman periods. An interdisciplinary approach provides new insights into population, health, and cultural interactions in this frontier region of ancient Egypt.Pubblicazioni consigliate
