Histoire et capitalisme : le marxisme politique d’Ellen Meiksins Wood

Ten years after her passing, this article explores the contributions of the Canadian historian Ellen Meiksins Wood (1942-2016) to the conceptualization of Political Marxism, focusing in particular on her role in renewing the emancipatory – both social and ideological – scope of historical analysis. The discussion is structured around four main axes: the redefinition of the relationship between the economic and the political; the critique of teleological paradigms; the questioning of structuralist postulates; and the development of a historical formalization of the rules of reproduction of capitalism. In a phase marked by profound global transformations, where Political Marxism is gaining increasing prominence in international debates, this article seeks to foster the use of the epistemological and methodological tools developed by Meiksins Wood in the French context, in order to provide researchers with new critical perspectives for analysing and rethinking the social relations that structure our present, from a revolutionary standpoint.
