University and Academic Heritage Beyond Museification and Knowledge Networks: A Geographical Perspective

This paper explores the academic and university heritage emphasizing its potential beyond museification, knowledge networks, cultural itineraries and tourism. Through a project conducted in 2018, 2019, and 2022, the study examines the understanding students of their university’s heritage its geo-historical place. The results show that despite the university's historical role in shaping cities and growing activities in historisation have been done, awareness of its heritage among students, staff and citizen remains limited. The findings aim to inspire new approaches, to enhance student, academic and city in the construction of university spatial configurations and sense of place, engagement, and strengthen university-community relationships for improved governance.
