This article investigates the notion of “pensiero poetante” (“poe- tic thinking”) as a productive interpretive category for the Vedic Upaniṣads, placing it in dialogue with Martin Heidegger’s concept of dichtendes Denken. While avoiding any direct philosophical equiva- lence between Heideggerian phenomenology and Upaniṣadic meta- physics, the study argues that the Upaniṣads articulate a form of ori- ginary discourse in which poetic form and speculative thought are intrinsically co-constitutive. Focusing primarily on the Br ̥ had-āraṇya- ka-upaniṣad, the analysis examines the sapiential contest (brahmo- dya) between Yājñavalkya and Vidagdha Śākalya as a paradigmatic instance of this poetic–speculative dynamic. Particular attention is devoted to the role of analogical and proportional reasoning (bandhu), vocal–logical articulation, and the performative power of speech (vāc) in revealing brahman as an ontological principle con- necting microcosm, meso-cosm, and macrocosm. Through close tex- tual analysis of both prose and verse passages, the article shows how Upaniṣadic discourse transforms ritual-magical language into a pro- to-philosophical inquiry, culminating in a poetic thinking that disclo- ses truth (satya) through sound, rhythm, and semantic tension.

Abstract
Through close tex- tual analysis of both prose and verse passages, the article shows how Upaniṣadic discourse transforms ritual-magical language into a pro- to-philosophical inquiry, culminating in a poetic thinking that disclo- ses truth (satya) through sound, rhythm, and semantic tension.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
