After a brief look at an impressive recent achievement made possible by developments in artificial intelligence we take a journey back through the centuries. We learn that the Turing Test was anticipated in a treatise written four centuries ago, and that concerns about the capabilities of machines are nothing new. We then move on to consider some of the issues surrounding artificial intelligence, and explain why science fiction is a valuable resource that it would be foolhardy to ignore.

Abstract
After a brief look at an impressive recent achievement made possible by developments in artificial intelligence we take a journey back through the centuries. We learn that the Turing Test was anticipated in a treatise written four centuries ago, and that concerns about the capabilities of machines are nothing new. We then move on to consider some of the issues surrounding artificial intelligence, and explain why science fiction is a valuable resource that it would be foolhardy to ignore.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
