The speech will explore the use of tears to detect molecules such as microRNAs (miRNA) and other proteins (e.g. by means of seed amplification assay) that can provide information about biological processes related to several neurodegenerative diseases. By studying their presence and concentration in tears, researchers may be able to identify early signs of neurodegenerative diseases and monitor how these diseases develop over time. This approach could support in vivo diagnostics and help improve early detection.

Abstract

The speech will explore the use of tears to detect molecules such as microRNAs (miRNA) and other proteins (e.g. by means of seed amplification assay) that can provide information about biological processes related to several neurodegenerative diseases. By studying their presence and concentration in tears, researchers may be able to identify early signs of neurodegenerative diseases and monitor how these diseases develop over time. This approach could support in vivo diagnostics and help improve early detection.
