This contribution highlights a collection of large stone slab fragments that were likely found in secondary deposition during excavations conducted in the area of the current cemetery between 1874 and 1875. These fragments are displayed in Room 4 on the ground loor of the National Museum of Tarquinia. As noted by G. Cultrera in his irst edition (1921), these fragments belong to a single group, despite being disjointed and having few connections. Particular attention is given to reference models across diferent classes of materials in order to identify potential underlying compositional schemes that may generate insights regarding the overall narrative and its intended use, within the formal context of early Hellenism, which encompasses a series of large-scale igurative programs executed in stone in the Tarquinia area.

Abstract
This contribution highlights a collection of large stone slab fragments that were likely found in secondary deposition during excavations conducted in the area of the current cemetery between 1874 and 1875. These fragments are displayed in Room 4 on the ground loor of the National Museum of Tarquinia. As noted by G. Cultrera in his irst edition (1921), these fragments belong to a single group, despite being disjointed and having few connections. Particular attention is given to reference models across diferent classes of materials in order to identify potential underlying compositional schemes that may generate insights regarding the overall narrative and its intended use, within the formal context of early Hellenism, which encompasses a series of large-scale igurative programs executed in stone in the Tarquinia area.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
