Three Perspectives on the transformation of the Left, focus on what strategic choices left wing European parties could and have to make to survive the downfall in votes especially in the last decade. Interesting insights are that social democratic parties in Germany and Austria rather loose votes to conservative and green parties than to right wing parties. Also the strategic choices are not a "win-win" or "loose-loose" game, it is about loosing some to win others. Since parties and their voters are in transformation the question is what focus to have in a changing world.

Abstract

Three Perspectives on the transformation of the Left, focus on what strategic choices left wing European parties could and have to make to survive the downfall in votes especially in the last decade. Interesting insights are that social democratic parties in Germany and Austria rather loose votes to conservative and green parties than to right wing parties. Also the strategic choices are not a "win-win" or "loose-loose" game, it is about loosing some to win others. Since parties and their voters are in transformation the question is what focus to have in a changing world.
