This project investigates discourses about urban regeneration as a linguistic, social, and communicative phenomenon from a critical discourse analysis perspective. As an interdisciplinary practice, multiple aspects of urban regeneration must be taken into consideration: the plurality of stakeholders involved, the issues embedded in urban development (e.g., sustainability, participation), and the local specificity of such projects. This study specifically focuses on discourses about urban regeneration in the city of Milan, proposing operational applications for city branding purposes and increasing communicative awareness in private and institutional actors.

Abstract

This project investigates discourses about urban regeneration as a linguistic, social, and communicative phenomenon from a critical discourse analysis perspective. As an interdisciplinary practice, multiple aspects of urban regeneration must be taken into consideration: the plurality of stakeholders involved, the issues embedded in urban development (e.g., sustainability, participation), and the local specificity of such projects. This study specifically focuses on discourses about urban regeneration in the city of Milan, proposing operational applications for city branding purposes and increasing communicative awareness in private and institutional actors.
