Introduction: The aim of this research is to reflect on the challenges and limitations arising from the use of artificial intelligence in the accessible translation of cultural objects, particularly sculptures, and in the production of audio descriptions for an audience with visual impairments. Methods: Based on a semiotic analysis of the artworks, this research proposes, on the one hand, a version created by the authors of this study following the guidelines of audio description, and on the other hand, a second version produced with the assistance of artificial intelligence. The obtained audio descriptions have been analyzed using a platform that has been trained for this purpose. Results: The analysis of the audio descriptions generated by the artificial intelligence systems UniDescription and Microsoft Copilot enabled the identification of relevant proposals in terms of textual organization and linguistic choices. Conclusions: The study reveals that the combination of human experience and artificial intelligence–assisted translation tools can effectively improve the quality and efficiency of accessible content creation services.

Introducción: El objetivo de esta investigación es reflexionar sobre los retos y límites que se derivan del empleo de la inteligencia artificial en la traducción accesible de objetos culturales, en particular, esculturas, y en la producción de audiodescripciones para un público con déficit visual. Métodos: A partir de un análisis semiótico de las obras, se propone, por un lado, una versión creada por los autores de este estudio siguiendo las directrices de la audiodescripción y, por otro, una segunda realizada con el auxilio de la inteligencia artificial. Las audiodescripciones obtenidas se han analizado mediante una plataforma que ha sido instruida para tal fin. Resultados: El análisis de las audiodescripciones generadas por las inteligencias artificiales UniDescription y Microsoft Copilot permitió identificar propuestas relevantes en cuanto a la organización textual y las elecciones lingüísticas empleadas. Conclusiones: El estudio revela que la combinación de experiencia humana y de las herramientas de traducción asistida por inteligencia artificial pueden mejorar la calidad y eficiencia en la creación de contenidos accesibles.
