Valutazione della congruità del comportamento di ortopedico e fisiatra su di un caso di frattura misconosciuta di femore = Assessment of the appropriateness of the orthopedic and rehabilitation physician behavior on a case of unrecognized femoral fracture

Fracture of femur - 87 years old woman. In the present case, an elderly woman (hypertensive subject, lacking of general conditions assessment) underwent surgery for a right knee total arthroplasty. The post-operative course in the Rehabilitation Unit was complicated by deterioration of the clinical conditions and the persistence of confusion. Subsequently, an orthopedic consultation documented by X-rays and CT of the hip revealed an undisplaced transcervical fracture of the femoral head. The discussion of the case identified censorship in the conduct of the orthopedic surgeon and the physiatrist. Lastly, the damage suffered by the patient has been assessed.

Frattura di femore - Donna di 87 anni. Nel caso in esame un’anziana signora fu operata di artroprotesi totale di ginocchio destro, in soggetto iperteso e in assenza di una valutazione del quadro clinico generale. Il decorso post-operatorio in Riabilitazione fu caratterizzato da peggioramento del quadro clinico e persistenza dello stato confusionale. Successivamente, un consulto ortopedico documentato da imaging (Rx e TC all’anca) evidenziò una frattura transcervicale composta della testa del femore. Nella discussione sono state identificate censure nella condotta dell’ortopedico e del fisiatra. Infine, è stato valutato il danno subito dalla signora.
