The significant spread of any form of electronic device related to the Internet of Things area has brought a number of cryptography and security experts to find which are the most suitable cryptographic algorithms that could mitigate confidentiality and integrity violations while optimizing efficiency and resource consumption. Large companies and government agencies (e.g., NIST) are making efforts precisely oriented in this direction to ensure the use of smart objects in various application sectors. In this paper, we will show where it is possible to find the algorithms under consideration, focusing our attention on measuring their performance in sufficiently representative environments, in order to guide any user (expert or not) to choose the correct solution.
