In the article I shortly analyse the loss of rootedness, which nevertheless existed, of left-wing politics in a (local) social and cultural context. More generally, with reference to the specific issue, in a sort of «popular» dimension of left-wing politics. In immediate post-war period the relationship between the left and the people is organic. Gestures, slogans, words of the left are within the people. When did those same gestures, slogans, words begin to turn into the ‘vain gesticulating’ of politics described by Pier Paolo Pasolini?
