Re-Thinking Community and Communication from a Processual Perspective

The present article aims to provide a processual account of community and communication based on Alfred North Whitehead’s philosophy. In order to achieve this objective, its first part is devoted to explaining why a process approach may be especially required in the present day, with reference to the challenges posed by technological advancement and social change. The second part tackles the topic of the community and attempts to understand the advantages of a processual perspective; from the same viewpoint, the third part focuses on communication, demonstrating how it should be radically revised. Finally, the last part introduces one of Whitehead’s concepts that seems to be particularly fruitful in the current debate: that of evidence.
