Like a K-drama: An Analysis of the South Korean Crisis of the Rule of Law through the Models of the State of Exception and the Impeachment - December 3rd, 2024, late night, South Korea appeared to be in a set of a k-drama: President Yoon Suk-yeol declared the state of emergency to face the pro-North Korean infiltrations and extended martial law to the whole territory of the Republic. Since South Korean population felt the danger of an authoritarian whirlwind, the Assembly was vested with the role to secure constitutional democracy and protect freedom and rights. The critical situation seems to be tamed, but what happened is perceived as a risk for future relationships in the region, and a necessary starting point for reforming the model of government.
