The essay reconstructs the evolution of the Monroe Doctrine during the twentieth century, with particular regard to the events that took place in Colombia, Venezuela and in Republic of Panama. The policies implemented in these States were, in fact, very often anticipatory of the developments in foreign policy, subsequently manifested by the US Presidents in their messages.
