Objectives: Oral Myasis represents a very rare and controversy clinical occurrence in the medical and dental practice. A significant incidence is documented in geo-graphical region with lower socio-economics conditions and poor hygiene levels. The aim of the present review was to evaluate the clinical characteristics, disease progression and treatment protocols of oral cavity myiasis and mouth parasitic infestations through a systematic review of the literature. Materials and Methods: The literature screening has been conducted on Pub-med/Medline, Google Scholar and EMBASE databases. The risk of bias assessment has been conducted for all studies included in the literature review. The literature analysis has been con-ducted through a descriptive synthesis. Results: The literature screening identified a total of 12,315 articles. After the full text assessment and eligibility process, a total 95 publications were con-sidered for the descriptive synthesis. The literature screened showed that the most common parasites species where represented by flies larvae and nematodes including G. pulchrum, Dirofilaria, Cysticercus spss Parachordodes spss. Wohlfahrtia spss. Diptera spss. Conclusions: The oral parasi-tosis represent an insidious clinical condition that needs a complex management in case of severe multiple infestation. The clinical protocol could take advantage from a combination of surgical removal and pharmacological therapy.
