Parole migranti dal mondo all’Italia : Note su un nuovo metodo di studio

The research belongs to the field of Italian linguistic studies dedicated to the contact between Italian and migrants’ languages. In particular, the object of analysis are words that indicate specific cultural aspects linked to the countries of origin and that are untranslatable. The neologism migratismi was coined to indicate such terms. The study was carried out on a corpus consisting of Italian migration literature (novels and short stories written by migrants directly in Italian). Over 500 terms emerged from the corpus, which were analyzed one by one in order to investigate the semantic fields most involved, the most active languages of origin and the circulation of the word in Italian.
