The article discusses the possibilities of creating an interactive learning environment based on cooperation between universities in China (Zhejiang University, China) and Russia (St. Petersburg State University) as well as its impact on the development of intercultural competencies of students in these countries. Interdisciplinary research and theoretical aspects are considered in the context of practical application based on the principles, content, and methods of teaching in modern society. The work is carried out on international interactive learning platform from 2020 to the present. The presented results are part of research that has been continued from 2016 to the present time and is aimed at studying the conditions for increasing the effectiveness of e-learning in training specialists in the field of digital humanities, as well as the development of an interactive learning environment based on the study’s outputs. Overall, our quantitative and qualitative data indicate an increase in the level of development of intercultural competencies of university students. Thus, the results obtained allow us to conclude that an interactive environment based on the use of artificial intelligence, multimedia technologies, and open information exchange platforms contribute to improving the quality of education at the universities.
