The psychological impact of surviving acute type A aortic dissection surgery is profound and often underrecognized. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) represents a relevant, yet often overlooked, consequence of this life-threatening event which can have a significant impact on long term outcome after surgery. Despite its potentially permanent effect on the quality of life of these patients, PTSD after ATAAD surgery is currently underdiagnosed and under treated. By incorporating routine PTSD screening, promoting early intervention, and integrating mental health services into cardiac care, healthcare providers can improve the long-term recovery and quality of life for ATAAD survivors. Mental health support, combined with a holistic approach to rehabilitation, will not only improve emotional well-being but also enhance physical recovery, leading to better long-term outcomes. As we continue to understand the critical connection between physical and psychological recovery, the integration of mental health care into post-surgical care will become an essential aspect of comprehensive patient care.

Abstract
As we continue to understand the critical connection between physical and psychological recovery, the integration of mental health care into post-surgical care will become an essential aspect of comprehensive patient care.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
