The present paper analyzes cases of premodern readings of the text of Sen eca’s Apocolocyntosis that were later confirmed by the discovery of manuscript evi dence in the course of the 19th and 20th centuries. After presenting some interesting examples of forgotten “anticipations”, the focus shifts to the critical apparatus, delving into a discussion on the current purpose and facies of an apparatus, and proposing some innovations through a sample edition of the first paragraphs of the satire. The final chapter of the article discusses the possibility of using digital editions as new tools for philologists and presents a proposal for a digital critical edition of the Apocolocyntosis.

Abstract
The present paper analyzes cases of premodern readings of the text of Sen eca’s Apocolocyntosis that were later confirmed by the discovery of manuscript evi dence in the course of the 19th and 20th centuries. After presenting some interesting examples of forgotten “anticipations”, the focus shifts to the critical apparatus, delving into a discussion on the current purpose and facies of an apparatus, and proposing some innovations through a sample edition of the first paragraphs of the satire. The final chapter of the article discusses the possibility of using digital editions as new tools for philologists and presents a proposal for a digital critical edition of the Apocolocyntosis.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
