It is nowadays accepted, both in industry and in academy, that Induced Polarization effects commonly affects electromagnetic data when these are collected over a capacitive halfspace, with a conductivity that shows a frequency-dependent behaviour. With this study we want to verify if and how IP effects are detectable also by the new ground EM instrument Loupe. The Loupe is a two-operator walkable EM profiling system designed to measure the conductivity of the ground with a high lateral and vertical resolution. In order to map the effects of the dissipative ground, we set up a large data space and model space analysis parametrizing a two layers synthetic model and calculating thousands of forward responses varying the model’s parametrisation. The idea is to compare, largely exploring the model space, the capacitive halfspace forward responses with their equivalent purely resistive. With this approach, we point to control and constraint the differences between the two forwards and attribute these only to the effects of the induced polarization. Varying thousands of parameters combination we also compare a large number of coupled forward responses obtaining an accurate mapping of the parameters effects on the IP manifestation. With this study we thus show how IP effects are widely diffuse in the EM spectra and their effects on the acquired data.

Abstract
With this study we thus show how IP effects are widely diffuse in the EM spectra and their effects on the acquired data.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
