Geografie di provincia nelle «Odi barbare» di Carducci

The essay aims to focus on the images and values of the province represented in the first book of the "Odi barbare", in which Giosuè Carducci offers a poetical picture of the Italian geography after the Unification. The reflection follows two directions. On the one hand, we return to reasoning on the distribution of the texts in the first book, in which are identified specific geographical sequences; on the other, we analyze three elements that influence the construction of the provincial landscape in Carducci’s poetry, namely the relationship with the capital (Rome), the past history of the place, the political and civil impact of the present time

Il contributo intende mettere a fuoco immagini e valori della provincia rappresentata nel libro primo delle "Odi barbare", in cui Giosuè Carducci restituisce un quadro in versi della geografia italiana post-unitaria. La riflessione percorre due direzioni. Da un lato, si torna a ragionare sulla ripartizione dei testi nel libro primo, nel quale si individuano specifiche sequenze geografiche; dall’altro, si analizzano tre dati che condizionano la costruzione carducciana del paesaggio della provincia, ovvero il rapporto rispetto al centro (Roma), la storia trascorsa del luogo, l’incidenza politico-civile del tempo presente.
