Abstract

Studies in work and organizational psychology (WOP) rarely place an emphasis on exploitation and abuse of IT workers. Being at the core of technological developments, business-oriented and market-driven constructs represent the mainstream theme of investigations on IT workers. Conversely, from the memoir by Anne Weiner, recent social movements (e.g., Tech Workers Coalition) and European Commission claims, exploitation has been being dramatically present in implicit thinking in personal and professional ideologies. The study sought to improve our knowledge on exploitation and develop a comprehensive model based on the lived experience of information technology (IT) workers.
