Il matrimonio ha ancora una funzione sociale?


The relevant decrease in the propensity of young Italians to contract marriage since the second half of the 1970s, makes it necessary to meditate on the reasons for this “escape from marriage”, especially considering that the phenomenon occurs in Italy more than in other Western States. It is necessary to reflect on the “causa” (i.e., the function) of marriage in contemporary society, in order to assess whether the 1975 Reform and subsequent legislation are suitable rules to implement this function of the marriage relationship. Such an analysis reveals the need for a profound reform of Italian marriage law.
