The contribution explains the theoretical principles, the main modes of operation and some peculiarities of the MEI database - Material Evidence in Incunabula, which collects exemplar data of tens of thousands of incunabula. The resource is located in the CERL galaxy, dotted with numerous databases or satellite tools, such as Owners of Incunabula, Provenance Digital Archive, BookTracker, Text-inc and 1516 (formerly 15cILLUSTRATION). Strengths and some critical issues are highlighted through some concrete cases, mostly drawn from the cataloguing of incunabula in the Biblioteca Civica A. Mai of Bergamo
Il contributo illustra i principi teorici, le principali modalità di funzionamento e alcune peculiarità del database MEI - Material Evidence in Incunabula, che raccoglie i dati d'esemplare di decine di migliaia di incunaboli. La risorsa è collocata nella galassia CERL, costellata di numerosi database o strumenti satellite, come Owners of Incunabula, Provenance Digital Archive, BookTracker, Text-inc e 1516 (ex 15cILLUSTRATION). I punti di forza e alcune criticità sono messi in luce attraverso alcuni casi concreti, tratti per lo più dalla catalogazione di incunaboli della Biblioteca Civica A. Mai di Bergamo
