The present invention relates miRNA biomarkers from a biological sample, e.g. exosome- derived microRNA, as indicators of welfare in bovines. In particular, the present invention relates to the identification of heat stress in bovines allowing to propose management actions to improve productive animal welfare at the individual or the herd levels.
