Reciprocità e Conflitto: l’individuo e la Metropoli distopica = Reciporicty and Conflict: the individual and the dystopic Metropolis

The contemporary metropolis is a dynamic organism, shaped both by its inhabitants and by the influences it exerts upon them. This study aims to investigate the interaction between individuals and the urban environment, focusing on the reciprocal relationship between science fiction and dystopian literature production, architecture, and contemporary urban evolution. The analysis of dystopian narratives emerges as an effective tool to explore the connection between human beings and the city, probing the fears, conflicts, and social dynamics that constitute its essence. The adopted methodological approach embraces a historical-critical perspective on urban individuality, from the emergence of the nineteenth-century metropolis to post-modernity, through the reinterpretation of the most significant works over time and comparison with sociological research and critical analyses on urbanism.

La metropoli contemporanea è un organismo dinamico, plasmato sia dai suoi abitanti sia dalle influenze che essa esercita su di loro. Questo studio si propone di indagare l’interazione tra gli individui e l’ambiente urbano, concentrandosi sulla relazione reciproca tra la produzione della letteratura fantascientifica e distopica, l’architettura e l’evoluzione urbana contemporanea. L’analisi delle narrazioni distopiche emerge come uno strumento efficace per esplorare il legame tra l’essere umano e la città, sondando le paure, i conflitti e le dinamiche sociali che ne costituiscono l’essenza. L’approccio metodologico adottato abbraccia una prospettiva storico-critica sull’individualità urbana, partendo dall’emergere della metropoli ottocentesca fino alla post-modernità, attraverso la reinterpretazione delle opere più significative nel tempo e il confronto con ricerche sociologiche e analisi critiche sull’urbanistica.
