L’intersoggettività secondo Peirce: comunità, dialogo, agape

The present paper aims to explore the unique role played by intersubjectivity in Peirce’s thought. Until now, the topic of “the other” has been investigated especially with reference to Peirce’s semiotic interpretation of the self, insofar as intersubjectivity represents one of its constitutive factors. Differently, the present paper focuses on the relevance and necessity of intersubjectivity in Peirce’s thought, and analyzes it according to three different and complementary perspectives: epistemology, logic, and metaphysics. For this reason, the paper is divided into three parts: the first one explains why Peirce’s epistemology requires the concept of community and cooperation as fundamental; the second one illustrates why according to the author we cannot avoid intersubjectivity from a logical perspective; and the third one why sympathy and love (as agape) are crucial in his evolutionary metaphysics.
