The paper examines the diffusion of the ex ante constitutional review of international treaties – specifically in African and Latin American – with the aim to verify whether the exercise of the preliminary review of agreements is influenced by their geopolitical collocation, their belonging to different regional organisations and their distinct economic policies and if its introduction should be merely considered an example of abusive constitutional borrowing.
