This paper outlines the process of designing, testing, and evaluating the effectiveness of the initial phase of a training program for teachers focused on quantum mechanics. Following the customary approach of our Physics Education Research (PER) group in Milan, the course was presented jointly to high school students and teachers. Its purpose was to introduce fundamental concepts and infer key postulates related to quantum mechanics. The experimentation phase involved conducting 10 online sessions between October 2021 and January 2022. These sessions were primarily directed towards students to demonstrate a practical example of our teaching approach for high school levels. After the first nine sessions, each student received a Google Form assignment to complete, aimed at extracting their reasoning and assessing their level of understanding. Upon concluding the course, satisfaction surveys were distributed to both students and teachers. The effectiveness of the activity was gauged through the analysis of all assignments, along with interviews conducted with 13 students and 6 teachers. After each session and at the end of the course, discussions were held with teachers regarding student reactions and the survey results. The subsequent phase of our teacher training program will involve the direct implementation of a section of the course in their respective classrooms.
