Antifascismi. Una discussione storiografica

The five volumes examined in this discussion provide an overview of the most fruitful lines of research in the recent historiography on antifascism. They are: Hugo García, Mercedes Yusta, Xavier Tabet, Cristina Clímaco (eds.), "Rethinking Antifascism. History, Memory and Politics, 1922 to the Present"; Gianluca Fulvetti, Andrea Ventura (eds.), "Antifasciste e antifascisti. Storie, culture politiche e memorie dal fascismo alla Repubblica"; Patricia Chiantera-Stutte, Maurizio Pagano (eds.), "La forza della libertà. L’antifascismo dall’Aventino alla Seconda guerra mondiale"; Marco Bresciani, "Quale antifascismo? Storia di Giustizia e Libertà"; and Simona Colarizi, "La Resistenza lunga. Storia dell’antifascismo 1919-1945". Rich in insights into the spaces, times, practices, protagonists, networks, languages, roots and heritage of Italian and international antifascism, they also reveal many open questions. The complex vicissitudes of historical antifascism, moreover, are still largely to be reconstructed, especially from a transnational perspective, while studies on its memory appear more vital than ever, demonstrating the inseparable link between history, historiography and memory.
