Regionalità immaginate. Traiettorie subnazionali nel cinema popolare italiano (2010-2019)

The following essay concerns a study of subnational geographies in popular italian cinema (2010-2019). Trying to understand Italy in Italian cinema, on a geographic-landscape and identity-cultural level, as an imagined community (Anderson 2018), the article will apply a quantitative study on a sample of the top 100 highest grossing films recorded in Italy (Cinetel data). If we can truly understand Italian cinema on a regional scale, it is important to interrogate the crossing of the country, asking: how recurrently has Italian cinema narrated interregional imaginaries? How has it fielded encounters and exchanges between its regions?
